While taking this picture, we met an English-speaking Russian woman wearing the standard Russian Orthodox headscarf style. She was also taking photos, and, looking at my lack of headscarf (outside of the monastery walls it isn’t needed), she said, “but you aren’t Orthodox, are you?” And then, after our no, asked, “Catholic?”. When we said Christian, she thought for a moment, and then said, “That’s ok. It’s ok to be different religions.” Nice thing for a Russian to say.
